News.gif 4kids to launch Toonzaki - Online Site Dedicated to Uncut Anime
Posted by Jess on Aug 01 2010 07:02 pm

4kids announce that they will launch a new site dedicated to uncut anime to go along with the launch of Toonzai. The site will be called Toonzaki and it is hoped to be online by the end of August 2010 with a few titles with more being added aggressively in the following months. According to Senior Vice President of Digital Media at 4Kids Entertainment Mark Kirk, the Toonzaki site will be like the Toonzai's site bigger brother. Toonzai will have it's own online component dedicated to video for the kids while Toonzaki will have the subbed and uncut versions of some of the same shows. The deals for licensing agreements for additional content of the new Toonzaki site are ongoing and they hope to offer a library of uncut and subbed anime there.

News.gif Toonzai Coming September 2010
Posted by Jess on Jul 24 2010 05:41 pm

The American licensing company 4Kids Entertainment confirmed with its clients before its 2010-2011 season upfront presentation that it will be rebranding its Saturday morning programming block on affiliates of The CW network. Currently, TheCW4Kids block runs from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 4Kids will tentatively rename the block as "Toonzai," as part of the larger effort that includes the addition of Dragon Ball Z Kai. 4Kids also indicated that it will retain Yu-Gi-Oh! and Sonic X in its lineup.

4Kids Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alfred Kahn said in March that "4Kids needs to return to its roots as a licensing and merchandising company [that] specializes in bringing wonderful Japanese programming and merchandising to the rest of the world." Kahn added that the company will be producing very little animated series on its own because it is much more costly than bringing over a Japanese franchise, even with the costs of dubbing, and so the "overall risk reward ratio is much more favorable."

Kahn added he has worked closely with his partners in Japan over the past year and a half, and the company had signed an agreement for a "very important Japanese property." Kahn also said that his company updating TheCW4Kids block with a number of "substantial Japanese hits."

In related news there is a very interesting article I found online about the Toonami Toonzai likeness. Read it here. Was it inspired by Toonami? Perhaps. Check out the article to form your own opinion.

News.gif Rumor: Code Geass Gaiden: Boukoku no Akito (Akito of the Ruined Nation)
Posted by Jess on Jun 13 2010 10:19 pm

There's rumors of a new Code Geass project known as Code Geass Gaiden: Boukoku no Akito (Akito of the Ruined Nation) being in the works. What we hear is it's set in atb 2017, seven years after the start of the original Code Geass series, likely 5-6 years after the end of Lelouch's story, and unfortunately the world peace that was supposed to ensue didn't. Europe is in the midst of a big war-- and a small squadron of folks from Area 11 are on a mission that has only a 5% likelihood of success.

Also circulating around the rumor mill is that CLAMP will be back for character designs, as will Akira Yasuda for the Knightmare Frames. Ichirou Okouchi and Gorou Taniguchi, who came up with the original Code Geass story, will be back for the new piece. There are also some newcomers to the franchise: One Shigeru Morita, who did scripts for Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and a variety of episodes of Blood+ and Toward the Terra, will be on screenplay duty for the new Geass. And Kazuki Akane, whose directed works like Vision of Escaflowne and Noein, will helm the new series.

Not much else is known or has anything been confirmed at this time. This is all just rumor at the moment.
